Background Information I graduated from Western Washington University with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and Seattle University with my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. In addition to my work as a private practice therapist in Greenlake, I work as a therapist at Seattle Pacific University and as an Adjunct faculty member at Seattle University. I counsel individuals, couples, and groups.
I have experience working in a variety of settings including private practice, college campuses, outpatient centers, hospitals, jails, and social detox. I have worked with individuals ages 12-98 from a variety of different cultural and religious backgrounds. Issues that I have gained more extensive experience with include: Adult Children of Alcoholic’s, substance abuse, eating preoccupations, self-harm, depression, anxiety, and spirituality issues. Groups that I have facilitated include, recovery from eating disorders, anxiety reduction groups, stress management/coping skills, setting boundaries, and women’s groups.
My Theoretical Approach My approach to counseling is holistic focusing on emotions, relationships, thoughts, past experiences, behavior, biology, and nutrition. The theories I practice from are person-centered, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral. I recognize that every person is innately different and brings a variety of different strengths and challenges. Therefore I use techniques from many additional theoretical orientations to treat each individual holistically as well as uniquely.
