What Types of Therapeutic Groups Do You Offer?

I offer a Women’s Group, LGBTQ/ Coming Out Group, and a Co-Ed Relational Group.

How Could I Benefit?

You will hopefully benefit in similar ways that past group members have.  These benefits include:

  • Greater Intimacy in Relationships
  • Recovery from Addiction
  • Reduced Feelings of Loneliness
  • Increased Sense of Trust
  • Higher Self-Esteem
  • Improved Boundaries
  • Improved Conflict Resolution

But Still Why Would I EVER Want to Join a Group?

Good Question!  The reality is that groups are probably everywhere in your life.  Groups are our families, friends, co-workers, and classmates.  Often, the best and fastest way to create change in your life is through a therapeutic group because that is similar to what you encounter in your life.

What’s Different About a Therapeutic Group?

Therapeutic groups are different than other groups in your life in several ways.  One key way is that they are led by two experienced group therapists that are trained in keeping the group safe and supportive while also providing some healthy challenge.

Another key difference is that therapeutic group members are often more supportive of each other, and give more grace to one another, than other groups in life because members know they are all learning and practicing ways in which they want to change.

How Often Do Your Groups Meet?

All groups meet on a weekly basis for 12 weeks.  At the end of 12 weeks there is usually the option of continuing to the next 12 week cycle.  Groups are 1.5 hours in length and have 5-6 group members.

Can I Have More Details About the Groups You Offer?

Sure!  See info below.

Women's Group-

This group is an all women's group where members present

with different types of issues including: stress, relationship problems, friendships, depression, anxiety, addiction, past trauma, and issues related to eating.  The main focus of this group is not the issue itself; but, learning how to cope better, receive support, and to facilitate change.

LGBTQ/Coming Out Group-

This is a co-ed group led by Dan Woodard, MA, LMHC and myself.  It is designed for women and men who are looking for a confidential, safe, supportive environment to talk about the unique challenges (and at times celebrations) that face those that are either coming out or are LGBTQ.   Some of these issues include: questioning their attraction to the same sex, stress of coming out to family/friends, isolation/loneliness, grief, spirituality conflicts, identity confusion, same sex relationship difficulties, dating, discrimination, and emotional intimacy.

Co-Ed Relational Group-

This group is designed for both men and women who desire to change how they relate to others.  If you struggle with relational difficulties such as trouble communicating at work or at home, difficulty with conflict in friendships/ partners, inability to set boundaries, issues of trust, social anxiety, addiction, or depression this is a good place to receive support and practice improving your relationships.
